Thanksgiving is upon us, and if there is a year to be thankful, 2020 is the one. No matter how tough and, pardon my French, shitty this year has been, I'm pretty sure we all have something to be thankful for. We are still alive and breathing, after all. Here are a few songs to accompany the feeling of gratefulness.
Led Zeppelin- Thank You
Although this British band is more popular for their raw and energetic rock n' roll, they did have slow songs with beautiful lyrics, and this one proves the point. A song about the wonder that is having something by your side who supports you and makes your world a better, warmer place.
Beastie Boys- Gratitude
Underneath the classic mix of rap and rock the Beasties made us fall in love with (sorry, Limp Bizkit) lies a hidden message: let aside the anger within you, feel the gratitude.
Beatles- Thank You Girl
When you are down in the gutter, blue as blue can be and a girl cheer you up, is there anything more appropriate than to thank her?
The Kinks- Days
With this tune, Ray Davies and company take the time to thank a person for the time he or she spent with you, blessing all of your days.
Queen- Your are my Best Friend
Even though this song has no direct "thank yous", it is obvious that the feeling of gratefulness is in every line of it. Written by John Deacon, Queens estranged bassist, to his wife, who has been with him for over 45 years, through the ups and the downs, and through thick and thin.
